JOB DESCRIPTION Internship to prepare the Center for European Citizens’ Democracy Europe's People's Forum (www.europespeoplesforum.eu) is looking for two interns to help prepare the Center for European Citizens’ Democracy (CECD) with HQ in Warsaw Poland, and Office in Brussels. The two internships are home based. Start is 1st of August, duration is 10 months, and with a possible but not guaranteed future employment. Background: To prepare the full scope, methodology and partnership a comprehensive project with 14 focus group consultations is carried out with different key segments of society. Specific objectives are to: 1. Exchange experience, stimulate awareness and develop possible strategies for impact on democracy. 2. Prepare and publish Guidelines for Holistic Approaches to Citizens’ Participatory Democracy at European, national and local levels. CECD is on its way to be established as a non-profit business foundation in Warsaw, supported by the Polish and other national governments. The goals of CECD are to: 1. Strengthen democracy and citizens’ ownership of future policies by initiating participatory processes. 2. Improve the quality of policymaking, strategic reviews and other aspects of institutional decision-making by drawing on expertise from citizens and independent media. 3. Build the capacity of local, national, European and international practitioners to implement such processes. 4. Carry out research within democracy, participatory and deliberative democracy. Two profiles: We are interested in employing two interns that have each their professional ambitions and will be responsible for each their function in the preparation of the Center for European Citizens’ Democracy. The internship will help you getting closer to your personal goal. 1. Prospective project manager: You will have a key role in organising and coordinating with the 5 organisations and 10 experts in this project that are responsible for each their focus groups. You will learn about the methodologiesand you will help these partners to set-up and carry out 14 focus group consultations across 4 countries according to the agreed methodology. 2. Prospective researcher on sustainable, participatory democracy You will have a key role in supporting our local partners to make documented and coherent brief reports from each of the focus groups and to help writing the final brief reports. The focus group sessions are dealing with different aspects and stakeholders of participatory democracy – i.e. parliaments, civil society organisations, media and journalists, deliberative participatory processes and their practitioners, political decision makers, EESC social partners and of course EC, EP and member states. Requirements: We expect that you are well towards the end of a relevant master study and connected to university. Main language is English, but all other European languages are seen as an asset for this position. There might be a number of travels to Austria, Poland, Brussels and Denmark. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.
